SNNHK hosts the purr-fect family event: A sensory-friendly screening of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

“When you only have one life, that’s what makes it special”Kitty Softpaws

On 2 January 2023, SNNHK was delighted to hold its first event of the new year: a family movie day to see Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish. In the movie, Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll and he has burned through eight of his nine lives, leaving him with only one left. So he sets out on an epic quest – together with his love interest and female counterpart, Kitty Softpaws – to find the mystical “Last Wish” and restore his nine lives.

This event was held in collaboration with Emperor Cinemas, who helped us to arrange a sensory-friendly screening with two accessible theatres in their Entertainment Building premises in Central. The sound was adjusted to be much quieter than usual screenings, and the lights were kept on so that it was less dark and frightening for little ones. There was a quiet area outside for children who may have needed a break from the excitement. The movie theatres were spacious and allowed children to move around, swap seats, or sit on the steps if they needed to use up some energy.

“Cinemas are scary. This one wasn’t scary. I liked moving seats and eating popcorn,” said Christopher, 9, who attended the screening.

We are thankful to Emperor Cinemas for their flexibility and arrangements for our members and we are planning to have more cinema events throughout the year.

The SNNHK committee is working with Emperor on a less complex ticketing solution and we hope to see you at the next showing!
